Starter Solenoids
While doing an engine swap on my 2002 SSEi I damaged the starter solenoid while removing it.....rendering it useless.
Having checked every auto parts store known to man I discovered that NO ONE has it.
This includes GM.
EVERYONE would love to sell you a complete new starter!! Prices range from $140 at the low end to over $200.
HOWEVER I located a rebuilder. The cost INSTALLED (while i waited) was $40.
These guys are great and I recommend them. I am certain they will ship one to you as well.

The bolts holding the starter in place are an E6 Torx and you need a deep well. This is not an easy socket to find.
Hope this helps,

From what I've read, the starter solenoid was only a user-replacable part until 1997, and only if the solenoid was not attached with Torx screws. Glad you got a good deal on it, though.

From what I read on the forum, 1997 was the last model year that had solenoids that could be changed without a full rebuild. Sort of like how GM doesn't want you replacing bits of the alternator.
