A Couple of Problems
Hi,
I am new to this site, but I have been looking around and there is alot of knowledge here.
My sister has a 2000 bonneville and it has * few minor problems-
-seems to have a small coolant leak
-It idles at around 1500; I think this is kind of high
-The other day it was very hard to start, when it did start there was alot of missing and stumbling for the first few seconds
From what I have read on here I think I should clean the IAC and throttle body to fix the high idle, as well as do some tune up things like replace plugs, wires, test resistance on coil packs, and replace fuel filter.
As far as the water leak, i know the lim gaskets are prone to go bad, but I don't actually know if they are leaking or not. I saw the other day there was a little fluid between the valve cover and the intake, but not much at all, and I don't know if it was water or not. The oil isn't milky or anything, but I am wondering if I should go ahead and change them since they are such a problem. I think I probably should.
Does all of this sound like it would fix the high idle, intermittant hard starting, and coolant leak?
Thanks in advance for any replies

Posts like a Ricer Type-R
Check the oil ASAP and if it shows any signs of coolant in it, or any odd color or smell, drain it RIGHT THEN.

thanks for the reply
I have read about the lim gaskets and have been keeping a close eye on the oil. It looks and smeels fine right now, but I am going to change the lim gaskets and probably the plastic upper intake manifold as soon as I can.
How about the high idle problem, is that the iac?
