2001 SSEi Q'*
I just replaced the front drivers side wheel-bearing. It sounded as though a motorcycle was always driving beside me!
Got it fixed and had a heart attack over the $338.00 bill then went to lunch. Upon going back to the office I noticed a knocking noise when turning predominantly from the drivers side.....took it back waiting for them to call me back and say the CV boot joint is out now!!!
My question is my "Service Stability System" light keeps coming on. I looked at the GM Parts Direct Site and they have the steering wheel position sensors as I have come to the conclusion after paying attention that the warning comes on when the wheel is turned, even slightly. How much time and hard work will this be? My husband is willing but I want to give him a heads up you know!
Also, what are the best brake pads for the front?
Thanks a bunch!

I wouldn't necessarily jump to conclusion too quickly on the Steering Wheel Position Sensor, but can't completely rule that out either. Before replacing parts, check to see if a DTC code was generated when the Service Stability System warning came in on the Driver Information Center (DIC) Did this problem occur prior to the front left hub assembly replacement? Check & make sure the front left Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector is connected securely at the new hub assembly. Where did you have the new hub replaced, at a GM dealer? $338 isn't too bad a price.

I actually got it repaired at Firestone. The local GM dealer here is notorious for tattooing you for unnecessary charges and work.
The "Service Stability System" warning has been coming on intermittently since I bought the car a year ago. I just reset it and keep on going.....I have read several posts on the subject here and it seems it was a GM flaw to begin with.
Well I picked up my car and luckily it wasn't a CV joint, it was a worn brake pad that was slipping (?) They were getting ready to close so they "pinned" it until I can take it back tomorrow morning. We shall see........
I will be sure and get the code deciphered next time the warning comes on.
