N/A 3800
I was wondering...when GM revamped the Grand Prix in 04 they "upgraded" from the L36 to the L26...aluminum UIM & drive by wire throttle among other things. My question is did they also install the L26 in the 04-05 Bonne SLE?...or did they continue with the L36 to the end of production run?

The Bonneville in 04 and 05 got a Northstar V8 as well as some different body moldings, taillights and interior bits and was badged as a Bonneville GXP.

I knew about the GXP Northstar...I was curious about the SLE model getting the newer version of the 3800 or did they stay with the L36 for the remainder of production. I remember reading that by the time the 04 cars went to production they were already considering 05 being the last for the Bonne...sometimes GM will skip upgrades for model they know are on the way out...the carryover bodywork from the GXP makes the SLE a slick looking ride but I've never looked under the hood of an 04-05 SLE to see if it has the newer 3800 like the Grand Prix got.

thanks for the info...sometimes it really surprises me at how GM will continue to build something they know is flawed...you would think they would have upgraded all N/A 3800 engines to the aluminum manifold given the failure rate of the plastic units.
btw, love the line in your sig...a pretty awesome second vehicle
