Default Pressure control solenoid question

I went and did it. I bought the 2001 SSEi that I asked about last week in "transmission concerns". :P
I am now sure that there has to be a problem with the tranny since ANY car can beat me off the line and across the intersection, even my wife'* 92 Ford Tempo. It is VERY slow getting going from a stop (for a car with a supercharged V-6), especially on hills. Is this something that could be caused by a faulty pressure control solenoid? Once it gets rolling it performs normally.

Please give us your symptoms.

It'* slower than a dead dog doesn't really give much to go on.

Does it rev up and not move?
Does it not rev and not move?
Bucking?
Stuttering?
Mileage?

If your PCS is bad then the easiest way to find out is to get it scanned by a TECH II. The code is P1811. But we do need more information about what is happening exactly. PCS problems usually present with abrupt/harsh downshifting. When I had a problem with mine I don't recall any real lack of power. Below is a link to the thread I had about the PSC issue.

Other than being slow off the line, there are no other problems. It doesn't buck or stutter. My mileage is at 21.5. The engine doesn't rev up and the car doesn't move. The best explanation I can give you to what it'* doing is that it'* like leaving from a stop in a car with a clutch with someone who slips the clutch a lot to get the car moving smoothly.

Just to clarify, the car doesn't rev a lot and then not move, it also doesn't not rev and not move. Like I said earlier, its like it'* got a manual trans with a clutch and is being slipped a lot to get moving smoothly, after that it performs normally

I don't know what has you suspect the pressure control solenoid. What you are describing does not point to it at all in my book.

This is a list of symptoms from the TSB regarding the pressure control solenoid.
Some owners of the above vehicles with a HydraMatic 4T65-E transaxle may comment on harsh upshifts or harsh garage shifts, soft shifts, shudders on hard acceleration, or shifts erratic. These conditions may appear intermittently or set a DTC P1811 or P0748. During diagnosis, a low or high line pressure (actual versus desired) may be observed.
If you believe it to be a transmission issue, try putting in a can of Sea Foam'* TransTune, run it for a few days, then change the transmission fluid and filter. While you have the pan off, check for any metal fragments, or any unusual contents. Some add Lucas Oil for transmissions when they refill.

Does it perform better if you manually shift the trans? Does your check engine light come on? Have you confirmed your check engine light works? Plugged cat?

Can you give us an estimated time from zero to sixty? Does it behave differently when its hot compared to cold?
