disabling traction control
How do you disable the traction control system so that you don't have to hit the 'traction' button every startup to turn it off? I'd rather not have this system on all the time. I have tried pulling the ABS fuses, but apparently they're not on the same fuse like the GP'* are. I've looked at all 4 fuse panels on the riv (one in dash, two under back seat, and one under the hood) and there is not a fuse for the traction control. I've looked at the 2000 Bonneville which is almost identical electrically too, and it also does not have a fuse for the traction control. Hell, I've even tried disconnecting the electrical connector that goes to the traction control module under the hood, but that didn't even work. :(

Traction control will be the same as the ABS system. Probably not a fuse you would want to pull.

Traction control is the same as the ABS on W-Body cars (Grand Prix, Regal, etc). On Bonnevilles it is not a fuse as far as anybody knows. The only way to get the TCS disabled is to get a reprogrammed PCM with it removed. It may be a fuse, but if so, nobody else has found it yet. The fuse also probably is not labeled TCS or anything, because it isn't labeled TCS in a W-Body, it is something messed up, I would go in the garage and look to see what it is called, but I am too lazy.
There is a 10 A fuse in the rear fuse block and a 50 A fuse in the underhood fuse block.

I don't think you are correct on this one. My service manual says that the ABS, Traction control and Stabilitrac system are combined and the schematics show that it is.
There is a 10 A fuse in the rear fuse block and a 50 A fuse in the underhood fuse block.

This is new information to me, and I would like to hear more about this, as I have done quite a bit of research on the Traction Control systems on W-Bodies and H-Bodies, and this has NEVER come up before.

I think you're right, dbtk2, on the riviera if you pull the ABS fuses the 'traction off' light does not come on when you turn the ignition on, and if you press the 'trac off' button the light will not come on either. So by pulling the ABS fuses it makes it so that you can't turn it off at all. I've compared the bonneville to the riviera and they're setup in exactly the same way. So if I can figure anything out (which I really doubt now) then it'll work on the Bonneville too.

This is some interesting information, and I think it is time to be the first to figure out how to do this. I sincerely hope you are correct 2000SilverBullet, because that would make track days so much easier.

I have never heard this before, and neither has anybody else. Scott Cook even says that there is no way to disable the TCS on a SSEi. This may be the case, and I would be very suprised, and very grateful of you for figuring this out if that is the case. To see if it really works, once you pull those 2 fuses, and start the car up (assuming it runs) the Trac Off light should be immediately on without you pressing the button. If the light is not on, then those fuses don't disable it.
I will scan the schematics and E-mail them to you. That should help you understand.
I haven't tried the 50 amp yet, only the 10. The 10 amp fuse was the one that only disabled the ABS, but left the traction control on all the time. I didn't want to do that either because I would like to keep ABS working too.

This is just a question but, is it really that hard to just hit the button when you get in? I mean I know if you can disable it without sacrificing anything else, then **** go for it. Otherwise it just one little button, it could get very lonly if you disable it, and we don't want lonly buttons in our car, exept the trunk hatch button, nobody likes his ***.
