Default half-shaft

well the front left wheel hub went bad (hum at 40 or more) and the right half-shaft is going out . got the hub at GM parts direct($187) have 120,000 miles so i cant complain, went ahead and will change both left and right half-shafts, got them at Rockauto. $120 plus $34 for shipping, i hope A1 CARDONE makes a good half-shaft. GM PartsDirect wanted $897.04 without shipping OUCH ! ! ! Why so much at GM? I know the GM unit is new and the rockauto is remanufactured but with shipping that is over $800.00 difference, why so much? Bet they don't sale to many half shafts.

Cardone is a quality product, and you shouldn't be afraid of a reman part in this case. Everything that'* worn is replaced. My question, though: How did the shaft go bad? Did the WB take it out? I'm just asking 'cause the main cause of CV failure used to be ripped boots, and nowadays the boots are much better made. Just wondering what to expect on my '03 SE.
As for why the dealership is so high, you said it: DEALERSHIP!

Ripped boot on 1 , 120,000 miles on both. My wife and i go for long drives (500+ miles a day) and i dont want to be left on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere with CV failure. Just preventative maintenance (or self preservation) take your pick.

When I had to replace a halfshaft on my moms SSEi nobody had any and most of them couldn't even order them without sending the bad one in to be rebuilt. I had to go to a salvage yard to get one. That was like 2 years ago, but still you are lucky.
