00 ssei trans problem no 3rd or 4th

Ok- so I tried the car with no power to the transmission by removing the plug at top of tranny(have to do this after car is running because it will not even crank starter if this is unplugged beforehand) The car is definitely starting in 2nd gear, and when I shift it into D and OD it does nothing. It stays in 2nd gear. I ran it up to 55 or 60mph which is about 3250 rpm in 2nd gear. So doesnt look great for this tranny. If the 2-3 solenoid valve was stuck open(ON) would that cause it to not shift? Thanks again

When you take off does it seem like the transmission is slipping bad? Check for battery voltage on pin E on the round plug.

ROFLMAO... (inside joke with Dan)

A stripped 4th hub shaft will keep the vehicle in the next lower gear (that works). Meaning if you had 3rd gear, the car would stay in 3rd and not shift to 4th. Since you also don't have 3rd, you are staying in 2nd.

Thanks guys, the car felt the same as it did with the tranny plugged in except starting in second gear. It does not feel like it is slipping at all in second with it unplugged, and I did get into it a little bit. I will have to check the voltage on pin E. I will let you know. Thanks

Just checked the voltage at pin E and I have 14.9 volts so that looks to be OK. Let me know what you guys think.

Based on my experiences (and not being able to road test your car or see the pan) it sounds to me that you have an internal problem.

I personally have never seen a 4T60 or 4T65 shift solenoid stick on, but I haven't seen everything either!

I'm not thinking a service is going to do much in this case. Dropping the pan won't necessarily show you a broken/bad one way bearing (aka third gear sprag) or a stripped 4th hub shaft.

I'd say it'* time to bring it to a trans shop for them to road test it with their magical box attached and get a proper diagnosis.
