Default Setting the Magnasteer

I went to two different shops and asked them if they would hook up their tech 2 scanner and adjust the firmness of the magnasteer and I got the same answer from both. "we cannot adjust the steering effort because of liability reasons." I've taken it to 2 different dealers and an independant shop and all of them have said that they can't do it. I know some of you have had it done so what'* your secret? they absolutely refuse to do it for me. :( I even offered to sign a waiver claiming that I knew the possible consequences and was warned of them and that the shop doing the work could be in no way held responsible for any possible results.

Tell them the feature is located in the calibration menu and will not void any warrenties or find them lible. It is a feature of the car and the customer can specify which way he wants it setup. Also get the dic programmed with your name or whatever, these 2 enhancements only take 5mins to program.

ah, I mentioned that but they said that the "normal" setting is how it was shipped from the factory so they can't change a factory setting. Maybe it'* because I'm only 19 so they think I'm just a punk kid. :( I have the magnasteer unhooked for now because of how sloppy the steering was with it on. The Riv steering is mushy compared to the bonny. With the magnasteer disconnected it'* more firm than the Bonneville. I am curious if having the magnasteer disconnected is more firm, or if the magnasteer set on firm is actually more firm.

Don't know what to tell you, I just went in one day getting an oil change and asked them to set the magnaster to the more firm setting. They didn't say anything and just did it for me. no charge either.

I'm at the point that my dealership'* service and parts guys know me by name/car. Funny thing though is that they would NOT perform a Case Learn for me. tried twice. no go.
Found a local gp member with a tech 2 to take care of it suggest you do the same.

My dealer had no problem setting mine to firm. Did it the same time as they did the Case Learn.
Frankly I could hardly tell the difference in firmness.

I'm sure the firmness would be greater with it turned off........didn't know you could turn it off. :?

You just unplug the wire harness that goes to the steering rack. mine'* been unplugged for over a year now. It sets the steering firmness to a default of 45 MPH at all times.
