Default WHAT IS THIS???

I've noticed that this deal has been cracked ever since I've had the car. What exactly is it, and should I fix it?

Thanks!!!

That'* your blowermotor for the climate control. Does it still work?

Yeah, it still works. So is that just a protective covering then? Or does it play some role in the airflow?

That'* odd - the cover is not there at all on my '92 sse */c or my '93 ssei, and I never knew it was supposed to have one.

That is wild. How on earth did that get cracked Can you see the blower motor moving inside, or is that just a protective plastic cover and there is a metal housing protecting the blower motor? If the plastic one that is cracked is the only one protecting the blower motor get a replacement....junkyard or from some other source.

I'm pretty sure you can't see any moving parts, so it'* just a protective covering. But, since it was obviously there for a reason (I hope, lol) I just wondered if I should consider fixing it.

If it bothers you every time you open the hood (like most of use daily) you may want to get another for aesthetics reasons. If it doesn't bother you...no big deal, eh?

Right on...except, I took a closer look at it tonight, and there is a tube of some type that also would normally hook into that enclosed portion. So, does that mean my recirc isn't really recirculating, or is there another reason for that tube? You can see what I'm talking about immediately to the right of the purple/black wire connector in the picture.

I think it'* just a drainage tube. Yours probably does a good job of draining without it, though.
