No, we're gonna do the drain check/test this weekend at his buddy'* place. gotta check fuses cuz gauges don't light up. How diff is it to change fuel pump and filter?

could be something minor like water in the fuel, a bad pressure regulator or faulting electrical connector. The IAC valve is also suspect and you should do as suggested in removing it and cleaning the shaft.
