Gas Gauge
ok. this is another thing i am confused about, when i brake or turn, is my gas gauge really supposed to be moving all over the place??!! now i know that other cars that have thier gauges do this, they have floaters but really is there anyway i can get it 2 stay in 1 spot without having to fill up they tank? i had a few guesses about the solution by changing the tank and sending unit knowing that the gas reader is attatched to it. anybody have any solutions they think might be able to help?

If the sender wasn't $300 or so, it'* practically annoying enough to replace, but $300 is a lot of beer.

Re: Gas Gauge
It'* a common complaint here. When I fill my fuel tank, the gas gauge bounces back and forth from full to empty for about 20 miles, then settles down and is fine.
If the sender wasn't $300 or so, it'* practically annoying enough to replace, but $300 is a lot of beer.

no it isnt that its stuck. say that you fill the tank up with gas. when the gauge gets in between 3/4 and full, any movement you make in the car(turns, braking, acceleration) the gauge moves. if you brake the needle falls toward the E. accel. and it heads back to F. turn right with the same amount of gas and its heading back down toward the E yet if you turn the oposite way, it stays in place.

I have the same problem, but the guage moving isn't my concern. What concerns me is when the gas sloshes hard at a level less than 5gal my pump sucks air and the car bogs.
I also have the gas guage problem. The one where it sits at empty when filled and then pegs past full at approx 40mi. Elsewhere on this site I found the "solder in a resistor" fix for this. and I intend to do this asap.
Using the trip odometer and my gas milage I know where I stand fuel wise. Up until 13 gallons I'm good. After that I have to worry about the sloshing problem.
Which gas tanks will solve this problem? I have a 96 SE and hope the tank in this one will work. If it will work can I swap the whole thing, tank, sender and pump?
Thanks for the help
Mike
