Dont get it from the dealer!! Get the AC-Delco part number from your dealer, and then go to your local auto parts store like Advance Auto or Napa and tell them to order you that exact AC-Delco Part. The dealer will charge you list price which is outrageous (ask deathrat). This way you'll AT LEAST get it for retail. Shop around on-line, you might even find it cheaper

Etc...

Later!

Man, today I called NAPA, Pep Boys and Advanced Auto and none of them said they could get it. I still have to call Autozone I guess, but I went to the dealer as a last resort. I will try again tomorrow.
Thanks

Well from one computer geek to another, the MAF screen is a, well it is a screen, like a screendoor. It is designed to catch stuff before it gets into the motor and screws things up. While that is all fine and dandy, it also impedes the air flow a bit and frankly isn't very much needed from what I can tell. Mine will be coming out this weekend at the latest. Labor Day weekend is Car Weekend!!

PS. I wouldn't really call myself a geek

I too am a pc geek.

I pulled my screen out a few months ago. It took me less than ten minutes to do and I hadn't dug that far into the intake before. I did notice a small jump in torque and higher end HP. It was only a small jump but remember, this is a FREE mod. The only reprucution I noticed is a slightly rougher idle. The gains I recieved more than make up for the idle.

I know there is also another post barried in here that talks about this as well, not sure where though.

Default Transmission Problem

Buddah, with respect to your drive-train problem:

Don't necessarily assume it'* the transmission. I had this problem with my '95 SE, it would sometimes kick or "stumble" at me just when I was thinking it should be either going into OD or the converter should be locking up. I talked to the dealer, I talked to transmission shops, I even tried a slip additive in the transmission...no joy.

Finally I ran it into the dealer who pulled the plugs....as soon as he did that he saw it was missfire...one set of plugs and wires later the problem disappeared never to return. Ignition breakdown under load was the real problem....and THAT turned out to have been caused by the infamous leaking upper inlet manifold which was discovered a couple of weeks later.

Well, I came in a little late on this topic But I know that I've had those symptoms happen to me twice on my 95 SE, and it'* been the coils both times. A rather expensive fix if I recall

OK, so I went up to the dealership today to have my SES light looked at, I figured he'd hook up the little scanner tool and cross reference the number and tell me what'* wrong. To do that they wanted to charge me $75.00 . I about laffed in this guys face!! :P I could get a scanner and run the diagnostics myself!! So I started to research that project and I found this.. http://www.autotap.com/autotap_gm_products.html. Anyone have any opinion on this item or others like it :?: . I'm sure one of you guys out there has your own scanner. Thanks for the 411
