bls.. your post is a little cryptic to understand.

What codes are illuminating the check engine light?
You mention the car starts some of the time. If the codes are cam sensor related, that would make more sense with the symptoms, however...let'* help you diagnose it before sending you to buy more parts that may not be bad.

Please pull and report back on the actual codes and their names. We'll go forward from there.

From Techinfo at the top of the page.
DTC P0341 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Performance

Please change the title of your post to be more appropriate. This is a cam sensor code... Was any work done in the past few months? Waterpump etc?

First thing to do is (car off) reach in around the belts to the left of the waterpump and find the connector. Ensure it is seated properly. Look over the wiring for any rubs or nicks to the best of your ability.

The sensor is under $50 (I don't remember exactly) and the cam sensor being bad or unplugged will cause the car to have a 1 in 6 chance of starting each time you turn the key.

The fuel pump is ~$120 as a part. That $600 number is nuts unless they are installing it and gold plating while in there.
