Default Wheel chatter under moderate to heavy acceleration

I noticed major wheel chatter when i would accelerate from a stop light about 2 months ago, since then i have had the tranny rebuilt and the mechanic assured me that would take care of the problem. The chatter is not as aggressive now but still very noticable, any suggestions about what to do. Also i have about 135k miles and have never replaced the UIM or LIM is this a problem, i read of guys replacing them at 70k, hope im not getting myself into too much trouble by putting it off. Thanks in advance!

Stock, it feels pretty loose, is that just the car or should it be fixed?

UIM/UIM gaskets and LIM gaskets. I suggest as preventative maintenance you have this done very soon. Lately there have been a lot of UIM failures that led to motor failure w/in 2,000 miles of the UIM being fixed. The Gearheads are looking into it and trying to determine the best course of action when a UIM fails to keep the other from occurring.

On the noise, does it occur all the time, only on turns or other times?

I agree with Boosty. Get the manifolds done ASAP. You've have the transmission rebuilt, let'* try to keep from having to do the same with the engine.

Could you be experiencing wheel hop, where the tires keep loosing contact with the road surface? Have the struts ever been replaced?

No not that i know of, my dad bought the car in 99 and never really took care of it. I was glad to rescue it from him. Im in the process of getting it to better than new condition, UIM/LIM and struts what do you think this will cost all together??

Doing the work yourself, or having it done?

I just started a new thread on this very same topic. I'm having the same problem. Whole front end shakes on hard accel. from a stop. I don't even have 50k on the car. I want to have someone watch the font wheels when I reproduce the problem. If there is no wheelspin I'm guessing its a diff/transfer chain problem. Everything in the front seems tight, but the struts have reached about their optimum lifetime. Thing is they still soak up bumps fine.

It depends on how difficult it would be. To be on the safe side id probably pay the extra to have someone do it.
