Default coolant leak/normal temp?

these might be related, but i'm not sure. I've been noticing my resivoir getting lower, about 1 quart in 2 months. i saw coolant dripping down underneath the t-stat housing, but didn't look like the t-stat was leaking. is there a common leak point there?

also, when driving on the highway, sometimes my car will stay at the hash before the 200 mark, then 1/2 hour later, it will go up to between 200 and the next hash, a whille later(1/2 hr.) it goes back down to where it was before. is this normal? i was thinking sticky thermostat but am not sure.

thanks in advance for your help!

not sure if my sig works, so it'* a 1992 SSE N/A

I'm guessing the temperature fluctuation you are seeing is caused by low coolant in the engine. You need to figure out where that leak is coming from and fix it. I see you are in Ames.

PM on the way.
