Hey there, just went to look at a 1995 SSEi, rides like a dream , goes like the wind, anyway.....my expertise tells me it possibly needs a head gasket ( after my 45 minute test drive ) and the dealer assured me it would be fixed, But there are a few things I'm not sure about. I know there was some mention of the suspension before in a previous thread.. and I don't remember what it is.. I think there maybe something wrong with the suspension system that'* why they both illuminate.. and there should be a difference in ride feeling over bumps and handlin. I"d get them to fix it all before even buyin the car.. you don't want to be stuck with a lemon.. ask for a vehicle history too.

There is likely a problem with the traction control/antilocks. The transmission or brakes could also possibly be overheating. Either way, it should be fixed. When both lights come on on the suspension controls, there is a trouble code stored, and something is wrong with the computer command ride struts. These computer command struts are not made anymore, so they are difficult to find!

Sorry for the negative news, just ask the dealer to fix all of the problems before you buy the car. Don't let them try to tell you that they are nothing!

The Fuel pump is probably just worn out. My fathers Chevy Van sounded lout before it died. My Chevy corsica'* was loud as well. It probably just needs a new one.

Second that. Get each problem to be repaired in _writing_, as separate items, as a condition of purchase. (Our local dealer calls it a "We Owe" form.) Ideally, get them to fix it before you buy the car -- if it'* a hot-selling car they shouldn't complain about doing so. If they won't fix the items before the sale, insist that you get the We Owe form that promises in _writing_ that they will fix them at their expense after you buy the car.

Don't feel like you're being a jerk about getting the wording exactly right, too: each item on the list needs to clearly identify the broken part(*) or the symptoms to be repaired, not just say something vague like "tune engine" or "inspect suspension."

As others said, problems with the traction control and suspension can be _very_ expensive to repair, so there is no reason why _you_ should have to pay for that on a car you haven't even bought yet.

To be honest, it sounds to me like the car you're looking at has been driven hard, and the previous owner bailed when too many things finally broke. I think you might want to keep looking; these cars are not that rare (yet).
