Ok i have 2 bonnies, one is an 92 and the other is an 93. My 92 temp is all ways on 200 degrees and never goes over while my 93 is sitting right in the middle of the 100 and 200 degrees mark. Someimes it even closer to the 100. Im not sure what could be the problem with the 93 or even if that is a problem. I changed the waterpump, theromstat and did a radiator flush.what else could there be?

The 92 sounds normal. The 93 is running kinda cold, like the thermostat is stuck open.

i changed the theromosat alright same thing. The only way the 93 even gets on 200 is if i let it sit running for a minute. My question is if i go and get another thermo and still have the same problem could that like crack a head or something??

Does your fans come on when you first start the car? If so thats the problem. Overcooling. The fans are not suppose to come on until the coolant temp reaches 230 degrees. Now on the other hand, if the are kicking on then that'* a head scatcher :?

Your 92 will run hotter, especially if it'* EGR-less like most 92'*. It'* normal.

Your 93 is running too cool. When you changed the thermostat last, did you get a new rubber seal for around the rim of the stat? If it'* not there, you'll be bypassing, and taking longer to warm up. Similar to drilling like I did, but in the extreme.

There'* also a possibility that your ECT is reading incorrectly. You could swap them between cars.

Overcooling to that extreme is bad for fuel mileage.

The internals on your engine are desinged to run in a range. a 180 stat is close to the lower end of that range. Any colder, and you're causing excessive wear, lowering fuel milage, and shortening the life of components.

SInce it does go up to 200 when sitting, i doubt you're getting a false reading, unless it'* loose.

K.. when it goes to 200 from idleing and you drive off.. does it cool down pretty quick?? How bout our engine shroud at the bottom?? Are those taken off or missing? Mine has been ripped so I took it off and it does cool the engine down really quick while in motion and I'm running a notch under 90C while diving but idleing it gets to just around 90C ( Center of guage )

Where is the sending unit (sensor) for the temperature gauge? Could it be that his sending unit is bad?
