Default How to remove the balancer

I need to get mine off. I have the center nut off, but it still won't budge. It is easy to get at for me right now (see below attached link). Any one have any advice or tips to get this thing off?

Wow, is that block really as nasty as it looks?

See those three slotted holes in the pulley? Behind them should be three threaded holes. You need a harmonic balancer pulley puller. It threads on the crank shaft, then you tighten the three bolts in the holes a little bit at a time till it comes free. There is a "how do you remove HB" thread sticky, or maybe it was moved to Techinfo.

Gordy - I believe I read that there are three holes in the balancer and you can use a standard wheel puller to yank it off. I forget the size of the threads..but it'* common.

So far this is the only place I have seen the balancer pulling bolts for sale. Priced at $25.00 plus shipping these are expensive bolts.

If any one has a set of these bolts please let us know the thread size and pitch.
I have tried ¼”x28 and 6mmx1.0 and neither seams to fit my 96 balancer.

You can get the puller from Autozone rental. The bolts, if the right one'* aren't there, are real cheap at any hardware store.

Go to NAPA to get three 1/4"-28*2.5" bolts to get the harmonic off. Pull harmonic easily. Bolts fit '87 and '93. Should fit '95.

Damemorder is correct they are ¼”x28 threads per inch.

A shot of WD-40 in each hole and the ¼”x 28 threads bolt threaded in smoothly.

Good luck SSEi95.
