id hate to bring up this dead topic, but i must
i went to a few auto shops and got quoted on them doing this just to know what i was looking at...
and i got quoted from 4 different places ranging from $250-$400
why is this when the part only costs $45...
its not to labor intensive, i dont understand

They just like your money. My son'* 97 needed a pump and dealer quoted $750.00! Mechanic friend that does work at home did it for $165.00 including the parts costs.

If you have done this enough times on an L36 it could be done in 30 minutes to an hour... The cleaning of the surfaces takes longer than the disassembly...
$165 is a pretty fair price
