Default Water Leak - Need solution. Have picture

I have a water leak that was discovered at NEBF. It is on the firewall above the gas pedal. Last leak and the car will be water tight again. Here is the picture of the location. You can see water on the black piece that the throttle cable goes in. It is either here, or the black part right above it where water is coming in.

Any solutions will be helpful. Would like to do it before winter since the car might sit outside for part of it. If not, the dash is coming out in the spring, so I can do it then.

jr's3800 leak post to end all leak posts. If yours is like ours, see page 4 for the fix. Both Don and I fixed a leak like you describe by removing the cowl piece and sealing around the wiper shafts and polyethylene intake duct for the heater.

excellent. How hard is this to do? i might be doing it this weekend while I am home dropping the car off. Is that caulk stuff available at autozone/parts plus/ napa or does it have to be ordered?

The 3-M strip calk is available locally at Arnold'* and O'Reilly'*, but anyone who sells 3-M should be able to get it for you.

If the leak originates from around the plastic duct, it will take some effort and patience to work a bead of calk all the way around, especially into the back side - it is very close quarters. The base of the shafts are a more likely source of the leak and they are much easier to do. You will want to do both once you have the cowl and wipers off.
