Help with high KR
I"m not sure if this would be under boosted or not.. but meh.. I'm sure the admins will find a place for it.
Alright.. So apparently PeterG has swapped PCM and that resolved his KR issue. I"m also gettin high KR counts on a stock 3.8" pulley
hi flo cat ( changed last summer )
TR55'* Iridium ( 2yrs old roughly.. haven't had a chance to pull them out to check on condition
91 octane pump gas.
Ran/run Gumout Max REgaine or Techron every 5-6 months.
Just did Seafoam ( hee hee.. I got more neighbors wondering whats going on than the fireworks on may 24 weekend at night )
Haven't scanned since.. but.. from what I gather from the scan prior
at the one notch before 0 boost. I'm gettin anywhere from 4 to 7 KR. and at 0 boost I"ve seen it spike up to 9.9
It doesn't happen during shifts.. so I doubt it'* transmission noise related. This happens from either dead stop or highway speed. I haven't done a WOT run due to the high KR count.
The 02 I believe is sayin I'm runnin on the rich side.
This is done at day and night where the weather is 30C ( before humidex) and bout 25~C at night.
Since my PCM has went swimming before.. I was wondering if I should swap out the PCM from the parts car to see if it maybe the problem?? ( If it worked for PeterG.. may work for me?? ). IF I was to do this.. is there any special thing I need to worry bout regarding removal and installin of the new plug from PCM?
EDIT: I think this should be in the boosted section.. but since I already typed all this out.. I"ll make the pi$$ed on yellow stars do the work of moving it

It'* doubtful it'* the PCM. 92-95'* are wonky and let'* call them the infancy stages for pcms. They have more bad days..than good.
Now the 97 pcm you have is good. I would check the plugs and wires. You probably have some bad plugs. For a good test if something needs to be replaced..start the car at night in the dark and mist/spray the engine with the hose.. get a light show or does the engine run worse?
Maybe a vacuum issue?

Dang... I hate to spend the money for a new 02 if I don't have to and I know it hasn't been changed it probably at least the 4-5 years that I"ve owned her. I hate it more if it doesn't resolve my issue.. lol.
I forgot to mention I also did Belden plug wires a lil over a year ago also. I will try the misting water spray technique.
Sorry Mustafa.. I don't have a pressure gauge to test the fuel pressure. ( I"m not too familiar with my scan tool yet.. so I doubt it will tell me there also ). I will see bout either gettin one or seein if anyone has one I can borrow to check.

With a scanner, you can watch the Bank 1 sensor. Watching the mV reading .. it should flip flop between high and low numbers fairly quickly. Hi being 6-800 and low being 0-150. The higher and lower the numbers and the faster it moves..the better the sensor is reading.

I haven't done the mist test yet..
So obviously a quicker response would mean a better conditioned 02 sensor.. but is there a way to find out what the norm would be? switch rate and so forth??

Drifter, I have a spare O2 sensor, but I don't know if the 95 SSEi'* are a direct match. I never tested it when I took it out but you can use it if you'd like.

Thanx Frank-o-bot for the offer.. I"m not sure if it would be the same or not. How much did you pay for your 02 sensor (new) if you don't mind me asking.
I maybe able to get my hands on a new Denso front 02 for $70 CAD
I'm still awaiting billBOOSTIA response into a normal range count for an 02 sensor. I will have to go scan my car later on today to see what kinda switch/count I get from the 02... but with the high humidity and heat.. I"m guessing it won't help my KR issue.. lmao.
I"ll also attempt to get the IPW for MErlin also.
