Mystery Hose (Possibly solved)
Alright guys, tonight on my way home, I notice the car is running around 240*... VERY hot (even for Texas!)... I kinda panic, calm down and blast the heater to help vent some of it, but I notice the air comin through isn't hot... weird.
So I get home without incident, pop the hood, and find coolant sprayed all over the passenger side, steaming (around the water pump area). Now, I knew I had a miniscule leak from the water pump, been like that for a while, but I notice... there'* not a drop of any coolant whatsoever from the water pump, it'* just all around it. Then I saw it, there'* a giant slit busted open in the short rubber hose that goes under the alternator (and into the engine?). I don't know what hose this is, but it resembles the same type of hose that goes to the radiator.
Can anybody identify this hose so I can get a replacement? Until then, my car is parked. Thanks!

That'* what my dad was suggesting as well, but he also suggested something about possibly a "bypass" hose? Any ideas regarding that? The only thing that confused me was that this hose appears to have been pre-shaped, much like the thick-walled radiator hoses. I wasn't sure if it required a very specific part number or just a length of the same type of hose. It is just held on by hose clamps...

Alright, I had to use an old pic and I know you can't really see the hose from this angle very well, but I have circled the spot where the break in the hose is...
I've been looking in the FSM, and it appears to be a heater hose, but I haven't found a definitive diagram yet...

Okay, well I took a look at O'Reilly'* website, and the By Pass Hose looks almost identical to the hose that I was referring to. Plan on going tomorrow to find out. I can just reuse the hose clamps, right?

I blieve that would be the Elbow from the belt tensioner into the top side of the ehgine. Good news, Dorman "Help!" has the part its abundant in the aftermarket. Less than $6 at O'Reilly'* I just replaced mine when doing the Upper Intake Manifold replacement. That critter comes in a pack of two. Different sizes of course. Bad News, its a booger to take the tensioner off to replace that part.

His failure is in the hose coming off that elbow and not the elbow itself.
And yes, you can reuse the hose clamps on the hose.
You also will be best served by buying the correct formed hose part number for the replacement. Using a piece of straight standard hose in a tight bend area, can cause it to collapse. Those heater and bypass hoses are pre-formed during manufacture and cured to that shape.
Also, I believe that the part number for that heater bypass hose is: 25535149
