recently I noticed a slowly growing stain on the carport floor below where the engine is whenever the car is parked

So I took the car in to the local Pontiac dealer, asked them to have a look, they found 9 leaks:

1- near upper passenger side of radiator, there are 2 short lengths of rubber hose. One connects the aux. transmission oil cooler to a U shaped pipe that connects to the upper fitting on the radiator tank and the other connects the aux. transmission cooler to the transmission oil pipe that goes to the transmission. One of the rubber hoses was leaking transmission fluid

2- the lower transmission fluid cooler pipe, this is the pipe that goes from the lower fitting on the radiator tank to the transmission. It is metal pipe at each end with a section of rubber hose in the middle. Where the metal pipe connects to the rubber hose was leaking transmission fluid

3- there was traces of engine coolant on the lower intake manifold. The intake manifold gaskets were leaking coolant.

4- the valve cover gaskets were leaking engine oil.

5- the engine oil pan gasket was leaking engine oil

6- the transmission oil pan gasket was leaking transmission fluid

7- the crankshaft rear main bearing cap seals, these are the seals on either side of the bearing cap that seal between the cap and engine block, were leaking engine oil

8- the crankshaft rear oil lip seal was leaking

9- the engine oil level sensor was leaking, engine oil was leaking through the inside of the sensor and coming out at the wiring connector

It'* all done now, the extended warrenty paid for most of it, once I collect up all the receipts, I'll post a cost breakdown of parts & labour, paid by warrent and me.
Dealer insists this is all typical things that go on the Series 1 3800 drivetrain at around this age/mileage (10 years - 100,000 miles).

they did the rear main seal as well???

thats is the only serious one it seemed like...intake gasket could be a pain as well though.

Yep, the rear main seal was supposed to be a 6 hour job, I took it in early Thursday monrning, and just to do to rear main seal, and didn't get it back until Saturday morning, so it took them 2 full days. When I asked why, they would only say they didn't have the right parts, and had to order and wait for parts.

But the extended warrenty provides a rental if the repairs take more than a day, so I got to drive a brand new black Dodge Magnum for a day

Just make sure if you have any noticable mods to remove them so you don't risk voiding you're warrenty.

How do you still have a warranty?

bought the car from a dealer about 2 years ago, bought a 3 year 30,000 kilometer extended warrenty at that time.

there wasn't any issue with mods voiding the warrenty on my car, but there were 2 other issues with the warrenty

first, they tried to deny the claim, saying my car was over the milage limit. Car is originally from US, so odometer is in miles. When I bought the warrenty, the car had about 87,000 miles, so that'* what is printed on the warrenty document. When the dealer submited the claim, they said the car had 160,000 kilometers (about 100,000 miles, which is right) so the warrenty company said, 87,000 plus 30,000 is 117,000 so the warrenty ran out about 40,000 kilometers ago. It actually took multiple phone calls to straighten this out.

next, they were not going to cover the transmission pan gasket, said this was part of regular scheduled maintenance when the transmission filter is replaced which should be every 50,000 miles or 80,000 kilometers, so my car would be due for that right about now. Regardless if replacing the filter is a good thing to do (I'm sure it is) I said no way, I had a fluid flush done recently, which is what the dealer recommended, and according to the maintenance schedule printed in the owner'* manual and factory service manual, the transmission filter only needs to be replaced every 50,000 miles if the car is in severe use, like trailer towing, police, delivery or taxi use, regular use in temperatures about 32 degrees (cel, I think about 90 degrees far) so I said the severe use schedule didn't apply and a filter change wasn't regular maintenace, so they should cover the gasket replacement, and eventually they agree to accept that part of the claim

Yep, this is the only time I've used it so far, and it'* almost paid for itself.

Something sort of disturbing, I went through the service records from the previous owner, and this is the 2nd time the intake manifold gaskets have been replaced, so at 100,000 miles it'* now on it 3rd set of intake manifold gaskets, What'* with that?

It happens when you drive your car harder than normal. or you drive in crazy temperatures.
