Default My lights went out on my heating/cooling controls

i recently installed a kenwood cd player to my 93. now i dont have lights in my heating/cooling controls area. they were working fine with the stock deck and have no clue why they went out.. my only guess is that the stock deck was lighting the controls from its top. any suggestions??

im not sure but i think that from 92 to 94 that there was a special connector that works the controls. I know that Willwren knows about this. Check out some of the other posts to see about this. Hopefully someone will chime in on this one !!!

The familiar HVAC control head problem. Do you have electronic climate control or manual climate control?

Gotta be the electronic, since (and this is certainly the weirdest thing _I've_ seen GM do in a long time) the factory stereo drives the fluorescent display of the electronic climate control. I know; I didn't believe it either, until I walked through the factory wiring diagrams.

Did someone here come up with a wiring workaround to allow an aftermarket stereo to be swapped into a '92-'94 SSE/SSEi with electronic climate control?

I wrote a procedure, I sent it over to Willwren to post in the techinfo section. Pontiac changed the wiring in 94 to make the radio and HVAC control head dimmer independent.
