I just bought a mint 94 green ssei. I have a weird problem here that needs to be irradicated asap. I notice that my car seems to lose all electronic power at random times, usually when turning or when the suspension is being used. Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but, the traction controls are both lit up. Both the touring mode and the performance mode lights are lit up. I thought only one of them is supposed to be lit at any one time. Anyhow, when this happens, it seems that the car'* electronic functions are reset, with a momentary loss of power controls, like the power steering and the power brakes. As you can imagine....it can be scarry when going at a high rate of speed. Someone please help me! Thanks!

P.*. I also have a creaky driver door noise when driving. Any ideas would be great.

Loss of electrical power is probably battery cable connections. Undo the battery cables at the battery and clean them up. Make sure they have good contact and are tight when you put them back on. DO the same for the other ends and see if your electrical power loss is corrected.

Illumination of both the touring and performance mode buttons indicate that the system has/is failed. Do a "search" for "CCR" under the "92-99 Mechanical" Section for more info.

Not sure on the driver'* door.

I agree with Echo 100%. CCR struts fail and are very expensive to replace. Most ditch the system altogther, as I will do when my struts/system finally fails on my 95. Good quality conventional struts provide a much better quality ride than CCR in Performance mode anyway.

I also agree with the battery cable connections. You are after the alternator cable connection and all the grounds, too.

Your door is either a rubbing seal or a latch or hinge. I suggest starting by oiling/lubing ONE of them at a time until the problem goes away.

Ok...so CCR stands for....??? And you're sure that I should "ditch" the system all together? So, what do I do when I call the auto parts store? What do I ask for, and where should I call? Sorry for all the noobish type questions, but I'm new to the whole supercharged pontiac scene. Thanks for all your help so far "willwren" and "echo"!

CCR stands for computer controlled ride, and it is super expensive to repair, it is much cheaper and actually better replacing it with regular struts, but only use the ones recommended on this forum for the best results. I know alot of members have switched theres out and have had good results from doing so, i am next on the list but i just have the electronic load leveling struts in the rear that have gone horribly bad, good luck with the replacement, and as for the door, one of my hinges was loose on my 94SSE on the drivers door and made it creak like that, i traded the car in and then 6 months later bought it back and the problem wasnt there no more so i figure they fixed it hehe, but good luck and keep us posted with ur findings and welcome to the dark side, err i mean the bonnevilleclub

So does this mean that the front are the only ones messed up or are the rear ones too? I would like to keep my "ELC" if at all possible and not costly like the "CCR". Thanks everyone! I'm lovin' this community already! You guys are the sheeeit! :P

Hard to tell without doing some tests. Here is "THE" write-up for struts and CCR. Monroe Reflex are no longer available, so you are looking at the sensa-tracs.

It may be too early to tell but I think you were right. I checked the battery and the positive connections to the battery were loose. I tried to tighten it, but the bolt was stripped. I bought a new bolt for $2.50 and now it seems to be fine. Thanks alot for the tip Echo! You are the man!

What if I could still get monroe reflex struts? Should I get em over the sensatracs? I heard that the reflex'* respond 100X faster than any other strut(or something to that affect). I could be wrong. I basically want the safest stuff...price is not a factor.

The reflex is supposed to be the better "performance" strut.
