Unhappy 92 Bonneville will not turn over periodically

I have a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville. It will not even turn over sometimes unless I get a jump. Lights inside and out work but no start. I have had battery checked and it seems fine, cold cranking amps good, running amps good although there is rare periodic decreases in amps.

Help!! I am going crazy over this.

Think I just need new battery or is it the Starter/ i do not know!

Check all the battery cables, both ends, clean them up. Pull the cable boot off and clean the ends up real good. That should solve your problem.

THanks,
I got new battery, replaced the battery cable terminal bolts and it did not start. Then I tapped the starter with metal rod and it started so as of now I tink it is starter. Also it seems to happen after tit heats up. So far since all the baove took place it has started so we shall see. Maybe the tapping of starter was coincidence. I will update later.

Make sure you check the connections at the starter. It is possible there'* a bad solenoid on the starter.

Being a 92, I am pretty sure that VATS in your year disables the starter. What is the Security light on the dash doing when you have this issue. You may need to clean your key.
