Need Advice On Power Steering Cooler Replacement
My 1995 Bonneville SE came from the factory with a power steering cooler under the car on the right side. It is rusted out. A dealership parts counter salesperson told me the only thing available is the cooler and hose assemble for $170. The part number is 26044069. Autozone claims they can special order a cooler for $20 but cannot provide any details such as size and whether not it will will mount to the factory location. They said a mounting kit is listed separately but they do not have it in stock and it sounded like they were not sure if I needed it for the Bonneville. The cooler is from Compressor Works. It is part number 911009.
The size of the original cooler is 5" by 2 & 1/8" by 1 & 1/8". It is a two pass cooler.
I am looking for advice on where to find the part and information on installing a replacement. I assume I can use hose clamps because it is on the return--low pressure side. I assume I may need to cut the original hose off above the original clamps. I would like to keep the original hoses on the car.
The Perma-Cool model 1001/1002 with barbed 3/8" ends found here may work.

One possibility is a junkyard..there'* tons of coolers in caddys mounted right up front behind the grill. Most likely they swap right over. Caddy'* use the same transmission coolers as well.
Another is to get that cooler and pull the brackets off the old one to rig it up.

This is the reason why I go to the U pull it'*. It'* a small insignificant part to them. They have no idea about it except it'* in the way when they are torching stuff.

I second that. The U Pull It yards here are filled with H-bodies and they have little interest in anything other than the big money parts, like superchargers. Even up north, there should be some with unrusted coolers on them, IMO...
