After almost 18 months of reliable service, the SSEi finally stranded someone.
My wife was about 5 miles from home when the idler pulley failed. That looks to be an easy job to fix, now that I know it has left hand threads- thanks to this message board.
My problem now is the PS reservoir- the belt cut a little slit in the side of the tank when it came off and the thing now leaks, even when not under pressure.
I consulted a manual that said the supercharged cars had a remote reservoir. Naturally, the manual offered almost no additional useful help on this topic.
As many of you know, the part in question is in a tight, hard to access place. Looks like the best access is gained by pulling off the passenger side front wheel and working from the wheelwell. I did so, and then cleaned everything up to find the leak.
I have not touched the thing with wrench yet because I want to check with you guys (and girls) to see if anyone has had a similar situation.
Questions:
Is the reservoir available without buying a new pump?
Either way, can anyone provide any tips or tricks concerning the job in question?
If this deal is horrendous labor or cost wise, how feasable is plugging the small hole with an epoxy or other compound?

I'm a little gun-shy here, since the Park Avenue Ultra I'm driving recently had to have the pump AND rack replaced to the tune of a little over $2000 at the dealer. Ouch! With less than 20,000 miles on the car! (the warranty had expired time-wise)
I don't want to take any chance of replacing ANOTHER magnasteer rack.

I would drian the resivoir and dry the area around the slit. I would try plastic weld as a temp fix. It might hold for awhile, but I would definently replace it down the road.

When having problems with something of this type you are better off just replacing it or you will have more problems with it.
