Well guys/girls bad news from me! It turns out that my exhaust leak is from a cracked header (manifold) at cylinder #5! Also my engine miss is from a bad cylinder! I did a compression check last night, and these are my results:
Cylinder 1: 120; 2: 110; 3: 110; 4: 120; 5: 100; 6: 50!
According to this I've got a bad valve! I've got a little white smoke out the tail pipe and all the old plugs were light tan which all shows that the engine is running at the right heat range. A new LH Header from GM is $470 CDN MY COST! There is no aftermarket headers for my car yet except for performance Series II engines. :? As for the bad valve my only option is to rebuild the whole engine (which only has 156,000 KM) or ride it out! I will be looking for a used 92 L27 Series I 3800 NA starting Monday at work. This way I may be able to replace the header & cylinder head only for the time being!

I think Thrasher Engineering makes a header that should fit your car. It is designed for the supercharged motor but I don't see why it would not fit the NA motor as well. I think it is around 750 dollars though :(

That'* the one I was getting at for the Series II engines! :? I'm sure with some porting & polishing I could get them to work BUT they're like $1000 CDN up here! I can buy a whole used engine for that! I still might buy a whole used engine & rebuild it, then install it when this one crators! [/u]

The way things are going right now if the US does not get its stuff together the US dollar/euro exchange rate is going to be similar to the US Dollar/Canadian Dollar exchange rate.

Probably some nasty import duties due on any part like that shipped from the US too.

Probally looking closer to $1500 CDN when all the taxes & shipping costs are factored in too!

I talked with thrasher awhile back and the o2 sensor is in a different spot and they do require drilling. I wanted to supply their headers for our cars. I will still try and supply them but they will come with instructions on how to fix the problem.

My problem with burnt valves WILL happen to you too! The EGRless 3800 engine was/is notorious for burning out valves since the exhaust is hotter then a 3800 with an EGR valve! That is why GM returned in 94 by putting on EGR valves again! :? At first GM emission tested these 3800'* w/o EGR valves & they passed emissions so no need to put EGR'* on! :? Later when GM noticed an increase in burnt valves on these EGRless engines they (GM) rethought that decision! I've been told that is NORMAL for these engines at around 150,000 KM mark! The good news is that you can just replace the valves & install the head w/o doing the bottom end. Just some FYI for yah!

wait a second, in your other thread you said you fixed the problem by replacing a fuel filter and spark plugs...

That'* right I did! or so I thought. :( I was assuming it was just an exhaust leak at my LH cylinder head making the miss that was left.
