trying to find a trans questions
on my 98 bonnie im trying to get a good used trans and the yards just ask year, na, m15 or mn3. my car is m15 and they are hard to find a decent one local. i was wondering if there was something i could use off my trans to use a mn3 since there are a bunch of local low mileage mn3'* around.
also does mn3 or m15 establish ratio because i thought f83 was the ratio code for 3.05, they dont even ask

Either gear ratio or supercharged/NA. You can take nearly any trans and make it work. If you aren't supercharged, pick up any non charged trans from a 98 and swap the diff. That'* the only difference that would be an issue.

Yes. in the non-HD trans the drive and driven gears 35/35 with the chain are 1:1. The diff is the whole gear ratio. Change the diff and you change the ratio.
FWIW on the HD trans the gears are 37/33 aka 1.121:1 or something like that. Which combined with a 3.29 diff makes the trans a 2.93 ratio overall.

thanks, i read the torque converter is different on the mn3 too, and that leaves me buying a new one because i wont have the flywheel to use from the other car.
