Default Transmission problem?

My 96 Bonneville SE is really irking me.

I drove it fine yesterday to and from work. 3 hours after coming home I start my car and let it warm up as usual. I shift into reverse and step on the gas and nothing happens (i have automatic transmission). None of the gears engage. It'* like its permanently stuck in park, when i shift gears it doesn't make that distinct click noise. The engine revs up and everything but doesnt move for anything.

2nd time in a month that i had a problem. First i had an electrical short in the ground wire..didn't have my car for 2 weeks...now this

Please Help!

Hi, Welcome to the club.

First thing to check is the transmission fluid level. Low fluid can cause all sorts of problems.

Check the park/neutral switch box on top of the trans.....maybe if you're shifting it into reverse just right, it'* catching neutral?
