Poor fuel economy results from a bad oxygen sensor. Also, engine parts may be damaged from too lean mixture.

Yes it is pretty easy to change. Just have to treat it gently. "A dropped O2 sensor is a bad O2 sensor." May need to buy a special socket ($10) or a crow'* foot wrench if you can't get the old one out with an adjustable wrench or open end.

I have yet to do this on my Bonne but it was simple on my 96 S10. Pretty much if you can turn a wrench you can do this. I like AC DELCO for parts, if you go to your local NAPA or AUTOZONE just tell them the year and make of your carand they'll get it for you.

Maybe you should pick up a manual by HAYNES or CHILTON for your car. Although I'm sure the gearheads around here can help you with pics and suggestions.

If your O2 fails toward the rich, this could happen:

Mine almost didn't come out. The misshapen element shield almost didn't fit through the bung.

AC Delco ONLY. Part numbers are in Techinfo. Order from www.gmpartsdirect.com

A large crescent wrench works just fine.
