Default Transmission Nightmare

I am in the midst of an absolute transmission replacement nightmare on my 97 Bonneville SE. It was slipping when hot at highway speeds, so I took it to Aamco. They have replaced it twice, sent it to the dealer, replaced the torque converter, and it still is not right.

It lurches when driven at a steady speed, typically 35 mph. Has anybody seen this sort of thing before. It'* back at Aamco again. They are going to put a certified transmission in it. This is crazy.

Thanx
MAS

Sounds like they didn't fix it right the first time. Haven't experienced your particular problem, but I sure hope they didn't charge you for anything past the first time they had to work on it.

What your describing sounds a lot like your TCC switch. That'* under your dash on the brake peddle. There'* a write up in the electrical section of tech info. Check it out and see if that'* your problem.

Thanx. I may have them take a look at that.

And No, I am not paying any more since the original rebuild, I'm just without my car a lot. Except for actually fixing it, they have been very cooperative with picking it up and other things. They are easily as frustrated as I am.

That problem is only for vehicles with a 4T65E trans. His 97 should have a 4T60E.
