Well as it turns out you have to shut the car off after each adjustment of the modulator because the tranny automatically locks in every time you remove the vacuum hose from the modulator when the engine is running. After I discovered that I found that no adjustment of the modulator helped. So I drained some fluid and added as much Lucas as I could. After a few minutes with the vac off the modulator its now all good. I adjusted the modulator for a slightly stiff shift. If I can find varna solve I ll try that, but I prolly need a rebuild like the senior gearheads said.

10 days since my last post here. My tranny slips all the time. when it is cold, when its hot, from a stand still, at stoplights or in traffic. Sometimes shifting through the gears fixes it, sometimes just reving the motor makes it engage. Sometimes I have to get out and pull the vacuum hose from the modulator. I have located some actual varnasolve. $61.00 a gallon! Ill get one next week hopefully. 57, I could truly use some help on how to do this and what to expect. Kris

closure
Thank you I was able to rechange my fluid and add the pan bolt After 1000 miles. I put in 2 qts Lucas with 4 more of Coastal. I already had the modulator near full right/ Full firmness And I think I should let it settle in before I adjust it. I hope I did not bump up too old a post. Just thought closure was needed. the varnasolvE never came through. Kris
