Default Belt replacement on 96 SE

Trying to figure out how to remove the belt on the 96 SE. Have to remove tension by releasing the pressure applied by the tensioner. Problem I have is there is no obvious way to relese the tension. I do not have a square or hex hole in the tensioner. Only a round one. Are you suppose to use the bolt through the center of the pulley to rotate the tensioner??

Bill...the belt swap is probably listed in Techinfo...

Basics are jack the right front, and support. Remove tire, splash shield. You will be looking to the right of the harmonic balancer. Remove the nut/stud and the spacer behind it. Now you can slip the belts in and out.

Yes. It'* either a 15 or 18mm. Put the wrench on and turn counter clockwise to release tension.

i had a different way, it works if you have someone to help you....gently pull on the belt and the tensioner should give after a while, then have your friend (or you if your friend is pulling on the belt) push down on the tensioner, then let go of the belt, and pull it off the alternator.....it'* not as proper as using the wrench on the tensioner, but it gets the job done
