Default 92 SSE, tranny cooler lines, intake

So, the youngest daughter calls me and says the car won't move. OK, take the truck.

I check the fluid level, um, there is no fluid level. Look around where the car has been parked and notice puddles. Look where it sitting and a little puddle. Throw in 4 qts and start her up. Steady drip from the tranny bracket the holds the cooler lines. Couldn't see which line it was so I got both from the dealer. One was 7 and the other was 22. Put the car on the ramps, yep, it'* dripping pretty fast. I thought replace the cheaper one first... FTW.

Here is where it was rubbing

Here is why it was rubbing

Called all my local parts stores (even the local gm dealer), nobody has one. Remembered the olded daughter is in St. Cloud, called Advanced there and they had one. Called daughter and said "sweety, can you pick up a front tranny mount for me?" Sure she said , what'* that?

So, the wife is painting the living and dining room. I don't want to be anywhere near that ****, what can I do to stay out here. I noticed the coolent overflow was empty, the engine was very dirty and wet, so I did what any rational person would do. Started ripping the intake off :? It has 260K+ and I have never done the lowers, it needs it right?

I don't know if there was anything wrong with them, but they are done. She has also been complaing about having to crank it a long time to start, so I also threw in a FPR. I didn't take a pic of the tb, it was dirty of course, but not bad. Replaced a few vaccumn lines.

Got it all zipped back up , turned the key, started right up

Today I have to get the mount switched, drop the oil, top off the coolent. And get my pass mirror swapped on the 97 (thanks Pat)

In your second pic, your shift modulator vac line is off. Looks like an old break? Just pointing it out just in case. I'm betting you may have had it off for the other work.

Good work Travis. Notice how good those gaskets look in comparison to 1-year old L36 gaskets? Dex is truly the devil.

From your pics, I'd say your leak was from the TB (not likely, you'd have caught that) or the coolant port between the front head and LIM. The coolant would wick over to the end of the head and drip down where I see it in some of the pics.

I bet you nailed it.

ya, I tore out the air box first, destroyed all the vac connections, replaced with new. I took another good look at the old tb gasket. I'm guessing that is where I was loosing coolent. I'll get a good close up of it.

I still have my "hard" starting problem. Threw a $55 FPR at it, that was a waste.

Now that I reread you reply, I'll get a better pick of that lim gasket. I think I can see it now

Thank you for the pictures, fully realizing the time and extra effort necessary for them, they are truly appreciated.
Simply invaluable, as a learning tool.

Hmm....although straying a bit off topic, I would check your plugs. If you were ingesting coolant, even in minute amounts, it will take out your spark plugs, as well as your O2 sensor.

You can actually see the valve covers and engine now

Forgot to mention I also replaced the valve cover gaskets as long as I had everything apart. the originals looked good, not squished at all.

ran the vin, it'* covered under campain 96003, upper transaxle oil cooler line separation. the best part is I got to return the parts I didn't put in and the one I did use (the cheapest one) wasnt covered. They said bring it by and we'll take care of it.
