Default Tools for front struts

Im going to do my front struts soon. The stock upper strut shaft nut is 15/16", but what are you guys using to get it off? Is there a special too with an off set, will a craftsman offset wrench fit in there? The new nut is 7/8'' wrench, so I will need to buy two tools?

Someone on here had a tool from autozone for this in a picture, but I can not find it.

Thanks, but what am I going to do about the two different sized nuts? The stockers are 15/16 and the new KYBs are 7/8s.

Can't you reuse the original nut or the KYB'* a different thread size?

Please post the results of the KYB nut size. I'm thinking of these for my cars.

If the nuts are a difference size, you might have to take a trip to Sears and find a wrench with one heck of an offset or sacrifice an 1/2" impact socket and weld a handle to it.

I bought a strut removal kit at Pep Boys a few years back that contained everything that I needed to get the old nut off and new one on. It has different sizes depending on which end is put over the nut, and had an insert for even smaller nuts, which I never have used. That part you could hold with a large crescent wrench, and had a large center hole where various long hex or torx wrenches (also included) could be inserted to hold the strut rod. I don't remember the cost off hand, but do remember it wasn't very expensive.

I was talking to Randy about the strut change this weekend. Have a buddy or two around to help you. He said it really takes a lot to do it.
