Tranny Fluid change?
After replacing my thermostat gasket last night I decided to check the fluids. Pulled the tranny dipstick out an d smelt it. Smelled nasty and looked like it had a brownish tint to it. So what are your alls opinions? The car has 115,000 miles on her. I was planning on changing it anyways and I have the next three days off to do it. Don't want to spend alot of money but if I have to I can. I know I want to use atleast one bottle of Lucas with the rest some good Dex 3. Do I need to change the filter also? What about the gasket? Also I know alot of you have shift kits installed. But if I order one now will it get here in time or does a local parts store carry that? Sorry for this being so long. Thanks in advance for anyone'* help.

Yes, change the filter. You may not need a gasket if your OEM rubber gasket is in good shape. Never use cork.
You have to remove the trans from the car to install a shift kit on a 4T60E.
