Default Rebuilt Transmissions & Pricing

I'm curious, what have you all paid to have your 4T60-E HD'* rebuilt and installed? I'd like to get some numbers, so I have an estimate to compare shops with. Don't want to get ripped off when the time comes around.

I'm also curious if it'* cheaper to get it rebuilt somewhere, and then have a local mechanic (someone I'd know and trust) install it?

Thanks!

Rebuilt GM SRTA unit for my '93 SSEi was roughly $1,900 and labor was roughly $600, so the total was about $2,500. The GM SRTA units come with a 50,000 mile warranty, including labor.
