finally getting around to installing a 180* t-stat...but i have a couple questions...

Is there any sort of gasket that should be replaced?...if so will it be included w/the t-stat?(seems like my taurus had one*hides*)

I'll probably be getting it at AutoZone..if the clerk says one isn't avail. for my car can I tell them to give me one for a '99?

Go over to schucks auto supply or NAPA. I got mine at Schucks. It should come with a gasket ring, if not you're getting riped off

we definatly have a NAPA here...not sure if they are open on Sundays or not..i'll pass by there on the way to RicerZone

yeah, ricerzone'* are hit and miss. Some of them have smart staff, other'* don't. They obviously make them to fit our cars Good luck!

Why do you feel you need an 180 degree thermostat?

because I have a plastic uim thats prone to fail..and I live in Tx where its gets quite hot during the summer...and going on 135k with it,its bound to go at anytime..heh

The 180 degree thermostat won't lower your operating coolant temperaure. it will only admit coolant to the engine block a bit earlier.

but wasn't that why they started putting them on stock in '99?

My car is a '99 and has a 195. Therefore, I don't know that they did. Perhaps some others here can chime in.

i could be thinking of the 2000+ models..but i swear someone mentioned they switched them to 180* in '99..no telling..heh
