you are doing it right, just need to try harder.

push the line together as much as you can, pinch the tabs, and then try to pull apart.

Ive had some good luck with needle nose pliers on some of those stubborn plastic quick disconnects (ironic name ). Be carfull though. some of those plastic lines are real brittle.

they make a set of tools for disconnecting those quick connects. they are a plastic clamp, set of four or five sizes. I'v done it with and without the tool. I've also replaced the fuel feedline on my 95 bonne se from the filter to the rail, $100 line and a HUGE pain in the a$$ to change. I'd but the tool(maybe autozone will loan you one).http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/LIS-37000.html (i own this kind) or this one looked ok http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Fuel-...QQcmdZViewItem. even if you do this job without them, they are great to have.

You may want to consider replacing the o-ring. I didn't... and ended up with a big, expensive puddle in the driveway the next morning. It'* still there from 4 months ago, I can take a pic if you'd like :P.
