engine swap question - what if.............
Just curious with this question.
I have been reading back pages in this forum and I read 32 of them so far and I really haven't seen this question asked yet.
If my 97 L36 was to die the big death, what can I do, replace it with another L36 from a 97 or are there other engine options and or years available for me?
I am in no need as of yet to do this but it might be needed someday.......

Even though 95 - 2005 can be used, what year L36 or L67 is less prone to having UIM and LIM failures or any other problems that have been corrected? I guess what I am asking is, If I had too look for a motor between 95-05, what years are is my best choices?

I grew up in two different areas of Rochester, the first 12 years near Goodman and Clifford ave and then we moved to Greece where I lived 21yrs and then I moved from there 21 years ago.......Long time ago......
So can anyone answer, which years from 95-05 are the most desirable motors to have?

you can do a L67 swap, but some say that just buy a different car....I say otherwise. You wound need the engine trans PCM and wiring harness from the donor car to install

The 95 L36 will have a different wiring harness and rear exhaust manifold so you'll have to swap those if you an engine form a 95 and i'm not sure about 96 either but i'm guessing at least the harness is slightly different?
An engine from a 97+ 4t65 equipped h-body car would be the easiest. Everything else will work but you might have to swap the harness for the earlier years and the rear manifold for earlier ond or different body styles.
Ohh and the 95 engine came with the green coolant which dosen't play nice with yours.
