Thanks alot for the help, I got another one for ya!!
Well I successfully swapped the 97 engine into my 95 with apparently no problems. Thanks to the guys who helped me out with the cross referencing.
The engine has been installed for about 2500 miles and has come up with a new prob however. Shes sucking gas like no ones business and is stuttering at low RPM'*. I can accellerate through the sputtering (which is why I'm probably burning more gas). I'm an old fashion engine guy and it smells and acts like she is running rich. On my old 350'* a little Carb tinkering would be in order but I imagine this has more to do with some sort of sensor.
I do have a check engine coming on intermittently, but never at the right times to get Autozone to pull it, and the dealer says I shouldn't take it in if the light keeps going out, on account that they might not be able to pull the code. I don't like taking things to dealers anyhow, anyone have any sucggestion? I did a search and didn't find anything along the same lines that I could tell. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Find someone that has an actual scanner, not just a code reader. They should be able to pull up the history codes (from an intermittent light). There could be any number of things wrong. The DTC'* should point you in the right direction though.

Checked the injectors and they seem intact and fine. EGR valve is a bit dirty but seems to be moving appropriately. A buddy of mine was helping me yesterday and we realized that she has a bit of a spark knock when we rev it in park, so now we have shifted to a timing problem most likely.
When I swapped the engine I also had to swap all of the sensors from my old engine. My buddy and I are having a bit of a disagreement. I did NOT change the crank sensor, but I did swap over the Cam sensor. He thinks the Cam sensor has to be adjusted when installed but I think it was the Crank sensor that needs to be adjusted since I installed the CAM sensor and it didn't appear to have any adjustments. I'm not even sure if this is the right path anyhow, or how much those sensors have to do with the timing.
I am definately having some detonation probs, so does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm going to a different Parts store today and hopefully they can retrieve my old codes for me and stear me in the right direction.

Take it to Autozone with or without the light on. It will store the code in memory for something like 300 ignition cycles. Besides, Autozone typically scans for free, so even if they scan it with the light not on and don't get a code you aren't out any $$.
Also, how are your plugs. Are the gapped properly (.060" stock), and how about the MAF and MAP sensors?
These might be the culprits, and the o2 sensor could also be at fault.
The cat is being given a heavy dose of unburnt gas -if it'* been running rich for quite some time before you fix the rich condition you will more than likely need a new cat.

Autozone said they couldn't get the codes from my car due to the pin config on the plug. I took it to two different ones just to make sure I wasn't getting someone who didn't know what they were doing. The Cat was new in 2001, the plug wires are the old ones, but I checked the plug gaps before I installed them a few months ago. No way of telling the condition of the MAP and MAF sensors, prob still have to take it in. Thanks though!
