Default Timing chain replacement intervals

What'* the recommended replacement interval? I'm at 155,000 on the original. Should I be concerned?

My son'* '92 went 280K miles without a change. But they do get loose and the timing will be improved with a new chain before that long. If it is not making any noise or running poorly, I would just schedule the work for sometime when I had some free time to do the work. I don't know that there is a recommended replacement interval. The need to change them probably varies based on how well the engine has been maintained.

I agree with Bill. I wouldn't be too concerned about it. The chain has a tensioner that helps keep things from getting too far out of line as the chain stretches. As Bill said, sometime when you have some time, or are going to be doing other engine maintenance, you may wish to add that to your list.l
