Heater help needed
It'* very cold outside and my heater only works sporadically. My A/C and vents also only work sporadically. Is this a sign that my blower motor is on the fritz? If so where is the blower motor on my car? I have a '98 SE. If you don't think it'* the blower motor suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

*****, and it will start working after awhile of driving. Usually just about as a pull my frozen carcass into the parking space the heater will start working . What is this "air mix door" you mentioned, and is it a tough fix? Also just to clarify, no air comes out when I turn the ventilation **** to any of the settings, the power **** is also inoperative until the whole thing decides to work. I work nights and I'm afraid my hands will get frozen to the steering wheel driving home at 2 A.M. and I'll have to gnaw my hands off at the wrists just to get out of the car...

Sounds like the blower motor to me. Try whacking it with hte handle of a long screw driver.
I had the same problem last winter. Got the motor at a local parts store. Not a hard fix, but it is kinda tight back there....

It could also be a blocked evap core. That'll prevent the flow of cool or hot air, even if the blower works great. Procedure for cleaning/checking it is in Techinfo.

most likely a blower motor. do what mos said...open your hood and smack the fan housing (when it isn't blowing...but turned to "high" setting) with a piece of wood or something. if it comes to life, then you need to replace it. easy and cheap.

You know it'* been working flawlessly the last couple of days. I guess just the mere threat of being replaced has scared it into operation . I have put a long screwdriver in the trunk though, for when it goes out again. When it does go on the quits again I'll give it a whack and report back. Or hey maybe it'll just have magically fixed it'* self .
