Air not coming out of vents - 1993 SE
Hi all,
There is a similar topic http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...er=asc&start=0
but to be honest after reading that I'm still confused and I'm not sure if things are the same for a 1993. Basically I get no air coming out of the dash vents, very little air coming out of the front defroster and very little air coming out the feet vents. The previoius thread mentioned to check the HVAC programmer but I have no idea how to get to it. I know i am supposed to go looking around for loose/cracked vacuum lines but I have no idea where to start. What should I start cracking open first?

Do you have the automatic temperature control or the manual temp system?
Do you have vacuum to the inside controls? Is the line coming in right above the passenger'* right foot carrying vacuum? Pull off the connector where the black line from the engine compartment meets the violet line .

i have the manual temp system.
Ok... I'm sorry but you're gonna have to go slower please. I've got super noob skills in mechanics... So... Should I remove the cover on the right side at the passenger'* foot? I will try this and see what I find... Also how do I check that it IS carrying vacuum? I don't have any gauges.

You will see a small black line coming in from the engine side and it will have a connector with a violet line that carries the vacuum to the controller box that switches the vacuum when you push a switch on the dashboard.
The panel above the passenger feet will have to be taken down. You probably can't reach it and pull it apart by just opening the glovebox.

I opened the the passenger side panel secured underneath with two screws and saw the pink / violet line, but couldn't see where it was connected to. I then opened the dashboard by removing about 7 screws and then saw the violet line connected to the black line. I started the car and yes, there was vacuum coming from the black line. Not very strong, but strong enough to stick to my finger.
I am now guessing that the problem must not be under the hood but near the dash where the vacuum actuators (or something) are located. Where can I find this? There is a black panel also secured by two screws under the driver'* side and I saw the violet line, but I can't seem to find the violet line leading into a control box.

Check out this Techinto article about cleaning the evap core and removing any obstructions from the air path.
Evap Cleaning 101
Sounds like you are getting air and where you expect it...however not the amount you expect.
As you mentioned, that other article you referenced does not really apply in your case.

I'm not sure that it is actually a blockage. I get 0 air from the dash vents, just about 0 from the defrost vents and maybe like a whisper of air from the feet vents. I will try out the cleaning tonight but I really want to know how to get to the hvac box.

If you had an air delivery problem, meaning air isn't where you want it..then I'd have you check vacuum etc.
Sounds like you are having a lack of air to deliver. If the fan is running and you can hear it change with the different speed selection then..I'd be inclined to say you have a blockage.
Please..mention if I am not stating the problem correctly..

I checked again and it does seem like i have problems selecting which vents to come from: dash vents, defrost and feet vents. With different selections the air output remains the same: none from dash and defrost, very little from feet.

Hmm Ok ..first thing to check is the vacuum hose from the engine to the center of the firewall. A black plastic (most odd shape ever) container next to the wiper motor. That black thing is your vac canister and would keep the flow from going where you expect it to...
My gut says otherwise though
