Thanks guys for all the compliments..and for all of you ripping on me for having a ford multiple times ..i heard you the first time. I'm not a professional street racer..never was. ..sorry, lol. To the people who didn't hear me the first time, i did say that i was 16 and that i am looking for a fun car for high school. I would take my old bonne over the stang 10/10 times but i can't. Bonnevilles are obviously a better car than mustangs..but i kind of want the looks/attention ..its fun. From previous experience in my moms Silver convertable 2001 stang..i get SOO MANY LOOKS ..and so many people give me nice comments in it, i love it. When i was in the bonne no1 really paid any attention what so ever. Some teens but that'* it. In the mustang it was the complete opposite and i love it lol. Hell the white one already has enkei rims on it so i'm already distinguishing myself. Anyways..Once i graduate college i plan on a GTP or a GXP Bonne or whatever its called. I will defintely be pontiac once more.. Comments?

Aw...

I have owned the 2300 four-banger mustang w/manual tranny. It'* only redeeming feature being that it was RWD and Manual Trans. It was fun in the winter because of the donuts. It was also fairly easy to work on.

BUT IT WAS SLOW AND SMALL.
I had mine with the original engine in it for about a weekend before I did the major overhaul on it. So yes, I will agree it is slow. And a bit small. Personally, I sorta like the smaller cars and the work-a-bility of the Mustang. Everything can be replaced and played with.

I also owned a 3.8 Thunderchicken. It'* only redeeming feature were its looks and the fact that it, too, was RWD. It wasn't bad working on the engine, but then again I had plenty of opportunity to do so. I cracked two heads under normal driving conditions.
Those bird'* are ****. Conceeded. But I too like the looks of them. I really would like a TurboCoupe as a daily driver. (2.3 Turbo - one of my favorite engines)

I liked both cars because I made them fun, but I would never go back unless it had a V-8. The V-8 LX is my favorite contemporary mustang, but they are theft bait and police bait. A classic (pre 1974) is even better.
Eh, if he were to pick up, say, an '87-89 LX 5.0 COUPE (the COUPE is key) and knock off the 5.0 badges you'd have something that doesn't catch too many eyes. The nice part about the older-fox-body stangs is that Cops have STOPPED looking for them, and STARTED looking for the newer body style.

I have changed my spark plugs twice in my Bonneville (the first being Bosch Platinums, the second being Champion dual Platinums three months later) and it took me 15 minutes including gap time. It is less convenient than an in-line mounted engine, but it didn't slow me up at all.
Really? I was unable to do it last time I tried. I really did try to move fast but they were stuck in there. And the one'* in the back gave me a pain in the butt. *shrug*

I may not agree with TheDuckyLittle on this, but I respect his opinion because it is based on ownership (as is mine).
And I yours. I thank you for the respect. I really do like all cars. Personally worked and driven many of all different brands, but keep coming back to the one I started with, Ford. And after getting my Mustang, fell in love with it. It'* really an addiction if you catch it young.

I am not discounting anyone else who has an opinion based on ownership, and I am not trying to make enemies. I just don't think it is fair to BonnAlien to give him ownership advice based on anything but personal experience.

No flames here.
I only flame because I love. And I agree about needing to make the judgement about personal experience.

I would also like to say something about the Ford 3.8L V6. It'* a torque little engine, much more characteristically like the Series I than the Series II Buick 3800. Now, the horsepower rating before '95 was 195 hp, and 235 ft/lbs of torque. Then in '96 they re-vamped it, and it was around 210 hp. MUCH MORE RELIABLE! The early version of the 3.8L Ford were ****, have always been ****, and I avoid them like the plague. Newer 3.8L'* have been reworked (I don't play with them so I can't say 'how') and they got all tof the bugs out of them. I'm not sure what they make stock any more, but someone told me about 220 hp at somepoint. Nearly around the same as an SHO plant but with a far more limited power range, and more torque. The reason you can mod the hell out of them and not get the greatest performance is because the '94+ Mustangs weigh quite a bit more than the ones from the 80'*.

The quarter mile is a good measure for most performance modifications, buy many Solo I/II and autocross racers prefer the 2.3L and 3.8L because it'* significantly lighter than it'* V8 brethren. I have seen a worked over N/A 2.3L CLEAN UP against a modded 5.0 in the autocross. The 2.3 driver was just very very intellegent about how he modified his engine ... used an aluminum head and aluminum accessories from newer 2.3 cars.

Now to answer the haters ... (here are some flames vs. ignorance)

"fords suck" Response: Yeah... thank you ... I love ignorance; it'* what keeps me going. Did you figure out how to do the special font on your own? Or did your daddy have to show you how to do it? Heaven forbid you use differnet colors. Back to insulting your car... you paid $2900 which is still more than I paid for my Mustang, Engine (AND to reuibld it), and drive train mod.*. :* Plus, I'm betting you don't run near the 1/4 mile times or skid pad G'*. But ya know, it'* a Ford, so it sucks. I suppose you like the fact that your tranny and engine controller are the same computer? You like the fact that your wiring harness is integrated into the main harness so you can't easily swap engines? I suppose you like that the computer version are undocumneted? Front wheel drive kicks *** doesn't? Huh? It'* cool to remove a motor mount to change a water pump I guess....
(flame off)

By the time you get done with the mustang it'll be faster than any stock or lightly modded Bonneville, handle IMMENSELY better, look better (my opinion), and have a car worth keeping for a good many years. The wonderful about Mustangs is that you can buy them, and map out your modifications over time. They really are fun cars.

I'm out,

-Duck
Oh just shut the **** up ! I'm just playing around ! I rebuilt the engine cause the intake went and I wanted to start the whole engine over with new everything ! It was cheap and I can felt a little ingle in my *** to do so ! Ford does sck ! Bottom line They suck *** Why not compare the 305 to the 302 ! Mustangs are good for one thing only and thats weight ! Ford lost their mind around the early 70'* ! It'* late and I just didn't like the way you came at me sideways ! Your mother'* stupid ! 1986 Monte SS pulling high 10'* with a CHEVY 305 ! **** face !!!
BTW - your wife taught me how to write in red when I ripped her a new one !

I know its a lost subject, but personally my Bonneville gets looks. All that shows itself on the outside are Epic rims and Blackouts...well also a **** load of MSD, Superchips, and other stickers!

Other than that people look probably because they see a younger man driving it, plus its red. No pun intended, red really attracts eyes. I don't know how much attention you really want to draw to yourself when it comes to the law. But for classmates I can see where your coming from. Hell it was just yesterday when I went to high school and used to drive a 1970 Coronet and classmates would just stare, I know what its like.

Now if "they" look, its a bonus. I just please myself now. I say this alot to people and I'll say it again... Please yourself, not your peers.

Sharp car though
