Default Muffler heat shield

I noticed yesteday that something was hanging down near my muffler, a quick look reveals the muffler heat shield is hanging by one plastic push pin. I got more pushpins today, slid under to discover two of the four mounting holes had remnants of screws in them and I couldn't get them out, so now it has two plastic pushpins holding up opposite corners. It teeters and one corner rests on an outlet pipe. Would it hurt to just pull it off entirely until I can get under this weekend with a drill? Couldn't get too hot if the plastic pushpin outlasted the screws...

When I bought mine, the heat shield was sitting on the muffler. I wasn't able to get to it for awhile. It didn't do anything except rattle and become a nuicance until i could get under there and reattach it.

So I say just leave it until you can reattach it permanently

It was rattling like a bitch. I just yanked it. I'll put it back on Saturday.

Back when I had my 93 SE I had a similar issue. I just re-screwed with some sheet metal screws. Worked well for the 40,000 miles that I owned her.
