Default Where do I put my fluid?

I recently found a leak in a line going from my tranny to the radiator, and I need to add a pint. My question is... do I add the fluid where the dipstick is, or if there some special place to add it?

Reason I ask is because of how adding and checking engine oil are two different spots...

How did you fix the leak? Don't forget to check/add xmission fluid (Dexron) when the engine is HOT
Oh, and as you might have found, you add the fluid through the xmission dip stick tube. And before check the level, wait a couple of minutes after you add fluid so it all slides down the tube.

Might I tell you homie, that i had the same problem and i found out that that is a recall on all bonnevilles. Im trying to save you some money. And oh, yeah.. you are supposed to add the oil in the trans dipstick, as with most vehicles.

Not a problem that required a recall... just a loose connection to the radiator, a couple wrences and a good tigtherning did the job.

Yes, the fluid goes through the dipstick tube. Put a little in at a time and recheck it until you get to the proper level.

There was a recall in 1993 from what I know, where the tranny line fittings could come loose and start a fire when the tranny fluid leaked onto the engine. Almost cost Bill his engine. I don't know when the recall started but I think by 94 the problem was fixed.

And BTW, the name calling will not be tolerated!

The recall was not for all Bonnevilles. It was for specific years and states (rust belt). I believe the recall is now over.

We have people of all skill levels on this forum, from those who are just learning what a dipstick is, to those who could tear an engine down and rebuild it blindfolded. All are welcome, and treated with respect. Name calling is disrepectful and juvenile and will find little tolerance on this forum.

The recall was not regional. It'* for all 93'*, and perhaps even some 92'* as I remember it. I had an engine fire on the Zilla as a result of it. Many 93'* were lost due to this (and no, I'm not in the rust belt, and there was no rust on mine at all).

The rubber line comes out of the factory crimp as the trans lines crossover about the midpoint of the lower portion of the center of the radiator coming to and from the bottom of the trans.

Both lines should be replaced. Have a dealer run your VIN number if you want to know if the work was done. It'* in the database if it was.
